The following is a case study about a photography project we completed for Louis Poulsen, a Danish lighting manufacturer. The goal of the project was to have the luxury light fixtures be the statement piece of the photo at the high-end home they were installed in.

By using high-quality photography, we were able to capture the elegance and beauty of the light fixtures, which helped to showcase them in a bold and unique way. It is our hope that in sharing this case study, we will provide you with some insights into our approach to photography and how we work with our clients to achieve their goals.

Our Client:

Who Is Louis Poulsen?

Louis Poulsen is a Danish lighting manufacturer that was founded in 1874. Their designs are based on the idea that form should follow function, and that every detail has a purpose. They work closely with designers, architects, and other talents to create quality lighting products that are both pleasing to the eye and to the light. Their products serve both the professional and private lighting markets for indoor and outdoor applications.

What Makes Louis Poulsen Different?

There are a few things that make Louis Poulsen different from other lighting companies. One is that they have an in-house design team. This team works closely with architects and other lighting professionals to create products that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Another thing that makes Louis Poulsen different is their commitment to quality. All of their products are made from high-quality materials and are designed to last

Objective:

Why is Architectural Photography Important for Lighting Companies?

Architectural photography is important for lighting companies because it allows them to show off their products in real-world settings. It also helps potential customers see how the products would look in their own homes or businesses.

Customers Buy What They Can See

As the saying goes, customers buy what they can see. This is especially true when it comes to luxury items like high-end light fixtures. By using quality photography, we were able to showcase the light fixtures in the best possible way and help Louis Poulsen sell more products.

Photography is The Most Important Tool for Marketing Products

When it comes to marketing products, photography is the most important tool that a company has. This is because photos are what potential customers will see first and they will base their decision on whether or not to purchase a product based on the photos. This is why it is so important to use high-quality photography when marketing products.

The Process:

From our perspective the project consisted of a few very important factors:

Importance of Light Not Being Over Exposed

As the light fixtures were the statement piece in each photo, it was essential that they were not overexposed. This meant finding the perfect balance of lighting so that the fixtures were well-lit but not too bright.

Light Must be True to Color Temperature

Another important factor was making sure that the light was true to color temperature. This was especially important because Louis Poulsen stands out by the quality of the light produced.

Lighting Must be Warm and Inviting

The last important factor was making sure that the light was warm and inviting. This meant creating a certain mood with the lighting, which we accomplished by using a combination of different light sources.

Usage

The final photos were used on Louis Poulsen’s website and their sales partner’s websites, in their brochures and magazines, in an on-demand image library for LP and sales partners, internal and partner sales collateral, in social media posts, and online and printed ads. Thanks to the great photography, potential customers were able to see the light fixtures in action and get a better idea of how they would look in their own homes or businesses.
