MANITOBA

Manitoba is situated in central Canada. It is surrounded by Hudson’s Bay, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories to the north; to the west by Saskatchewan; to the south by North Dakota, Minnesota; and to the east by Ontario. The provincial capital and largest city of Manitoba is Winnipeg, with a population of approximately 705,244. The total population of Manitoba is about 1.4 million people.

 

Manitoba is 647,797 square kilometers in size and the majority of this land is flat, with the exception of the southwest which contains some hills and small mountains. Manitoba is known for its plains, forests, rivers, frozen tundra, and many large lakes. Manitoba is one of the first provinces in Canada, and at one time was considered the gateway to the west.
