Texas is situated in the south-central area of the United States. It is surrounded by Oklahoma in the north, to the east by Louisiana and Arkansas, to the south by Mexico, and to the west by New Mexico.

 

The state capital of Texas is Austin with a population of approximately 964,254. Texas’s largest city is Houston with a population of approximately 2.3 million. The total population of Texas is about 28.7 million people.

 

Texas is 695,662 square kilometers in size and it has a very diverse landscape. It is divided into the 4 geographical regions of the Great Plains, the Gulf Coastal Plains, the Basin, Interior Lowlands, and the Range Province. The climate varies significantly throughout this state, but it can generally it has Continental, Modified Marine, and Mountain types of climate.

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK

Big Bend National Park was established in 1935 in southwestern Texas. It is 3,242 square kilometers in size and is known for the Rio Grande river, the Chihuahua Desert, Chisos Mountains, Persimmon Gap and Boquillas Canyon.

GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

Guadalupe Mountains National Park was established in 1972 in western Texas. This national park of approximately 150 square kilometers is famous for the Guadalupe mountains and Guadalupe Peak – the highest site in Texas. It also known for its deserts, sand dunes, forests, canyons and fossils.
