British Columbia is situated in western Canada. It is surrounded by the Yukon in the north; to the east by Alberta; to the south by Washington; Montana and Idaho; and to the west by Alaska and the Pacific Ocean.

 

The provincial capital of British Columbia is Victoria, with a population of approximately 92,000. British Columbia’s largest city is Vancouver with a population of approximately 634,000. The total population of British Columbia is about 5 million people. British Columbia is 944,735 square kilometers in size and it is known for its diverse landscape that includes grassy plains, rugged coastlines, beaches, lakes, mountains, deserts, and forests.

MOUNT REVELSTOKE NATIONAL PARK

Mount Revelstoke National Park was established in 1914 in southeastern British Columbia. It is 262 square kilometers in size and is known for its varied landscape that includes the Selkirk mountains, glaciers, lush rainforests, and alpine meadows.

KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK

Kootenay National Park, a Unesco World Heritage site, is located in southeastern British Columbia. This park was established in 1920 and is 1,406 square kilometers in size. Kootenay National Park is known for its picturesque landscape that includes the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains, hot springs, azure colored lakes, and glacier rivers.

GLACIER LAKE NATIONAL PARK

Glacier National Park was established in 1886 in southwestern British Columbia. It encompasses 1,349 square kilometers of landscape that includes portions of the Selkirk and Columbia Mountains and the Rogers Pass. Its landscape also includes glaciers, one of the largest cave systems in Canada, and dense forests.

YOHO NATIONAL PARK

Yoho National Park is a Unesco World Heritage site that was established in southeastern British Columbia in 1886. Yoho is 1,313 square kilometers in size. The western and central slopes of the Rocky Mountains are located here, along with other well known sites that include the Burgess Shale, Takakkaw Falls, Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge, and the Kicking Horse River.
