The Lakes Of Yosemite
BEHIND THE IMAGE
It is not surprising that over 4 million people visit Yosemite National Park every year. Yosemite’s mountains, valleys, lakes, waterfalls and giant sequoias are simply magnificent and have been a source of inspiration to many artists like the late photographer Ansel Adams.
There are thousands of ponds and lakes in Yosemite National Park’s relatively small area of 3,000 square kilometers. All of the lakes are known for their pristine waters and most are so remote that they can only be reached on foot. Two of the lakes that are the easiest to reach are the Mirror and Tenaya Lakes.
Tenaya Lake is also known as the ‘jewel of the High Country’. It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful lakes in Yosemite National Park because of its pristine waters and surrounding mountains and domes. Mirror lake is known for its ability to provide a mirror-like image of its surrounding landscape. Sadly, this seasonal lake is in danger of disappearing due to an accumulation of sediment from melting glaciers. The best times to view this lake are in the spring and early summer when more water is present.
The Lakes of Yosemite fully captures the beauty of one of the many lakes found at Yosemite National Park. A beautiful blue summer sky overlooks white coloured mountains, lush forests and the sparkling clear waters of the lake below. Looking at The Lakes of Yosemite it is very easy to imagine the heat of the summer’s day and the soothing sound of the water gently rippling along the rocks at your feet.
