The total population of South Dakota is about 884,659 people. South Dakota is 199,905 square kilometers in size and it is known for the Black Hills, and its prairie plains, canyons, and buttes. South Dakota has a temperate Continental climate.

BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK

Badlands National Park was established in 1978 in southwestern South Dakota. It is 982 square kilometers in size and is known for its large cache of fossils. It offers a unique landscape of prairie grasslands and a surreal landscape of imposing rock formations, canyons and buttes.
