I had the honor of photographing a award recipients for CP Rail not two long ago. It was a really neat shoot because we got to feature some great people in front of some large equipment. There is something awe inspiring about being around a large locomotive. This large pieces of equipment freight all over the continent. They are also diesel electric.

The mild winter day with fresh snow maybe the engines really pop. We got a good amount of contrast that I think lends really well to these photos.

These outdoor portraits are simple and effective. They can appear easy but also can be difficult. We want to show the subject, with the engine but make sure the scale of the locomotive is there too. This is a massive piece of machinery, and it should look like it is.

These shallow depth of field shots combined with equipment in the background are one of my favorite shots lately. There is a great story to be told in each of these. One that the viewer can almost discover on there own.
